“Burukutu” is a new 2026 release from Nigerian rapper and singer Olamide, taking its title from a traditional fermented grain drink familiar in parts of Nigeria.
The culturally rooted title fits Olamide’s longstanding connection to everyday Nigerian expressions. Throughout his career, he has drawn heavily on Yoruba language, street slang and local experiences, making indigenous culture an important part of his musical identity.
His versatility has also allowed him to combine hip-hop with Afrobeats and Fuji influences, moving comfortably between rapping, singing and rhythmic chants. That flexibility has remained one of his strengths, especially in recordings that embrace Nigerian street culture.
- Following his 2025 self-titled album Olamidé, which explored more relaxed musical arrangements, the rapper continues expanding an already extensive catalogue. His established reputation and connection with street-pop audiences provide a strong foundation for the reception of his latest material.
